Our Pacific Herring is caught in BC’s Gulf of Georgia by local fishermen each year during a remarkably brief season that usually runs during February/March. In the off season, frozen salted herring is available in our freezer section.

Herring is a dark-fleshed oily fish—similar to mackerel in some respects—and very rich in heart-healthy Omega-3 fatty acids.

Our Albacore Tuna is caught in the waters of BC then frozen on the boat immediately upon catch.  The whole tuna loin is extracted by bansaw, keeping the loin still frozen, from the time of catch.

Albacore Tuna is considered as a lowest mercury tuna available on the market.  Albacore tuna is low in fat, high in protein, with not only an abundance of heart healthy omega-3 fatty acids but antioxidant rich selenium, too. It's low in mercury and other pollutants because the fish are caught at a young age, before they accumulate high levels of toxins.

Our BC spot prawns are ocean wise, trap caught at Howe Sound, BC. Spot prawns are the largest of the 7 commercial species of shrimp found in Canada's west coast waters. The prawns body colour is usually reddish brown or orange with white horizontal bars on the carapace (shell) and distinctive white spots on the first and fifth abdominal segments.

After almost a two-year hiatus, we finally have BC scallops back at our store, thanks to our friends at Sawmill Bay Shellfish Co.! These freshly shucked local scallops are raised in the cold, crisp waters of Qualicum Beach, BC just inland from Baynes Sound. Sawmill Bay’s little beauties are firm yet tender with an amazing natural sweetness. No need to overdo it with sauces or seasonings when cooking them—we prefer to let their delicate flavour shine.
