We love BC halibut season! Fresh fillets, steaks and cheeks are available in store throughout the season until October, but you’ll also be pleased to know that we sell whole halibut too. Fishermen bring in these beautiful 20+ pound fish directly to our dock each day at our processing plant on Mitchell Island.
Though the thought of buying a whole halibut may seem daunting, remember that we take care of all the hard work for you! Whether you’re purchasing it for your family or splitting it with a few friends, we have a couple of different options to suit your halibut needs. When you order your whole halibut, we’ll cut and portion it for you free of charge. You can choose to have it either filleted and skinned, or cut into nice, meaty bone-in steaks.
We also offer vacuum-packing services for just $1 per bag in portions of your choosing. Vacuum packing your halibut before freezing is key to ensuring that the quality remains high. It also greatly extends the amount of time that each package can remain in your freezer without getting freezer burn or starting to dry out. Vacuum-packed fish can be stored for well over a year, as opposed to fish that’s wrapped and frozen which only lasts for a couple of months.
